Garage Saling

April 30, 2009

I’ve been meaning to post this since Saturday, but am just now getting around to it! One of my favorite weekend activities is garage-saling. I love it because you never know what you’re going to find, who you’ll meet or what kind of great deal you’ll get. Five bucks goes a long way! Some days I come home empty handed but no matter what, it always proves to be a fun activity and a great start to my day.

My husband and I love to venture out on our Saturday mornings and pick through other peoples junk, hoping to find a treasure. We have found some amazing things at garage sales and when it comes to home decorating, I love the unique stuff I’ve picked up over the years. I’ll have to take a few pictures of some of our favorite finds. This past weekend was a really fun weekend - we went to about four estate sales. Estate sales are always fun because not only is there a bunch of stuff to look at but you also get to look at the house. We got to tour this really cool 1960’s modern home for an estate sale, it was amazing, but we sadly learned someone had bought it and was going to tear it down. What a shame!

Although we went to several great sales on Saturday, I only ended up only spending a dollar, and this is what I bought.

You might be thinking, a basket of old thread - very unexciting. However last week, while I was helping a friend decorate/arrange her bookshelves, we came up with this brilliant idea. So this is what I’m going to do with my newly acquired thread! I can’t wait!
